In a recent move, the Maharashtra government has appointed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Minister of State for Tribal Development Indranil Naik as the new guardian minister of Gondia district. He replaces Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil, who had earlier held the position.
The Congress in Haryana on Thursday (April 16) suspended five of its MLAs from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect over alleged cross-voting during last month’s Rajya Sabha elections. The party’s Haryana unit Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), headed by former MP Dharampal Malik, recommended the suspension of MLAs Mohammad Ilyas (Punahana), Mohammad Israil (Hathin), Renu Bala (Sadhaura), Shalley Chaudhary (Naraingarh), and Jarnail Singh (Ratia).

The Supreme Court on Thursday issued significant directives while uploading its order regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) case in West Bengal. Exercising its special powers under Article 142 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to implement the decisions rendered by the Appellate Tribunal.
