Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking an NIA probe into the alleged assassination attempt on SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal at Shri Hazur Sahib Gurudwara in Maharashtra’s Nanded on August 13. In her letter, Harsimrat urged the Centre to hand over the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), citing the gravity, pattern and circumstances surrounding the incident.
TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee’s private security personnel, supporters and party leaders allegedly clashed with police and Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials on Thursday as they tried to prevent them from entering the Lok Sabha MP’s office on Camac Street and removing an ‘unauthorised’ billboard. The billboard, featuring TMC signage, had been installed on an iron structure facing the road on the building’s top floor. KMC officials eventually dismantled it after police entered the office.
