Amid continuous rescue operation, the death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal went up to 1,344 on Saturday as more bodies were recovered from the affected areas, according to Nepal Police. Rescue teams continued to search for around 5,000 people, including at least 589 foreign nationals, who remain missing, while more than 13,100 people have been rescued, officials said.
The Punjab Police has arrested prime accused in Punjab anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota’s murder from Salasar, Rajasthan. Jhota was earlier shot on Tuesday, October 13 during a confrontation at a medical store in Mansa, Punjab, while livestreaming what he alleged was the sale of ‘chitta’, or heroin. He later succumbed to his injuries at Mansa Civil Hospital. The incident has triggered a political storm, with opposition leaders accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of failing to tackle the drug menace and maintain law and order.

Two inter-state drug peddlers have been arrested with 317 kg of ganja, valued at an estimated Rs 3.17 crore in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru Police has arrested two arrested drug peddlers who are from Kerala and a case was registered under NDPS act.
