The Marathi film Gondhal has been selected as India’s official entry for the 2027 Oscars in the Best International Feature category. The film was chosen from a pool of 33 submissions spanning multiple languages and genres, including Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Hanuman Ansh, Ram Charan’s Peddi and Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur, among others.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday won 38 of the 44 seats in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections, securing 56.64 per cent of the vote. The Congress won five seats with a vote share of 37.05 per cent, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to win a single seat, polling 4.38 per cent of the votes. In a major development, the Delhi government on Tuesday made Aadhaar identification mandatory for consumers to avail the benefits of its power subsidy scheme amid a steady rise in beneficiaries and a burgeoning power subsidy bill borne by the exchequer. As per the official figures, by February 2026, the Delhi government’s allocation for power subsidy reached Rs 4,037.63 crore and for the current financial year (2026-27), the government has budgeted Rs 3,500 crore for this purpose.
