Nepal digs through mud and grief as rescue teams battle tough conditions, over 160 Indians evacuated
As rescue and relief operations continue in flood-ravaged Nepal, India has evacuated 163 of its nationals following the devastating flash floods that have claimed more than 1,000 lives. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said India is continuing its rescue and relief efforts in close coordination with Nepalese authorities. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the latest update on Tuesday, along with details of India’s specialised rescue and forensic teams working on the ground. According to the MEA, 163 Indian nationals have been rescued from the flood-affected areas, with five more people being evacuated since the previous update. Jaiswal also said that 151 Indian nationals left China on Tuesday as part of the ongoing efforts to facilitate the movement of affected Indians.

Rain fury across India: Four killed in Assam, floodwaters submerge villages in several states | 10 points
As the monsoon is in its peak time, torrential rain on Tuesday unleashed havoc across several parts of the country, killing four people in Assam, pushing rivers above danger levels in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and submerging roads and homes, disrupting trains and forcing schools to shut. Because of the heavy rains, Assam bore the brunt of the rain fury, with four people, including three members of a family, killed in two landslides in Guwahati and several parts of the city inundated following incessant rainfall. In the Mathgharia area, a couple and their 11-year-old daughter were killed when a landslide flattened their house while they were sleeping. Their 19-year-old son was rescued from beneath the debris and taken to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

MP govt renames Rajiv Gandhi University, splits it into three new technical universities
In a big development, the Mohan Yadav government on Tuesday changed the name of the university named after Rajiv Gandhi and also said that Bhopal’s Rajiv Gandhi University of Technology will be divided into three parts. Bhopal, Ujjain and Jabalpur will get new technical universities as the state cabinet approved the division of RGPV. These three names are Central Technology and Skill University Bhopal under which all districts of Bhopal Narmada Puram and Chambal division. Malwa University of Technology and Skills which includes all the universities of Ujjain Indore division.

Bihar has 700 JEE-NEET preparation centres, says CM Samrat Choudhary; targets 1 crore jobs by 2030
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday (September 1) said that major changes are underway in the state’s education and employment sectors. Speaking at a programme marking the inauguration of several development projects in Motihari, Choudhary said students from Bihar no longer need to travel to Kota for preparation of competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET, as the state government has established 700 centres across Bihar to provide coaching and preparation facilities within the state.

Trump warns Iran will be hit again at ‘much harder and higher level’ if it retaliates to US strikes
In a significant development, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said American forces are striking Iranian Targets near the Strait of Hormuz, and warned Tehran against retaliation. Taking to Truth Social platform, Trump called US strikes “very justified” in retaliation for the Iranians’ “failed” attempt at adding sea mines to the Strait of Hormuz and launching missiles at American military base in Jordan. Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi get relief as Pakistan HC bars solitary confinement
A Pakistan high court on Tuesday (September 1) directed jail authorities to ensure that former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are not kept in solitary confinement. Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro announced the verdict after holding that petitions challenging the alleged solitary confinement of Khan and Bibi were maintainable.
