Indian National Congress has refused to sing the full version of the ‘Vande Mataram’ song, which energised millions of freedom fighters during British rule. Union Home Minister Amit Shah described this decision as “anti-national”. He said the Congress Working Committee has taken “a surprising and anti-national decision”. Shah said, “Congress party adopted a resolution in 1937 when the party decided to sing only two stanzas of Vande Mataram. I want to remind the entire country that in 1937, for Muslim appeasement, the Congress party laid the foundation for the partition of the country by dividing Vande Mataram into two. From there, the two-nation theory gained strength and eventually, the country was partitioned and Pakistan was born.”

To strengthen rail connectivity between Bihar and Gujarat, Indian Railways will soon be launching a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express between Ahmedabad and Bhagalpur. Ticket booking for train number 19423 will open on Friday, August 21, at PRS counters and on the IRCTC website. The train will travel from Ahmedabad to Bhagalpur in approximately 36 hours and 10 minutes. The Railways has decided to convert the existing 09447/09448 Ahmedabad-Patna-Ahmedabad Clone Special into a regular service. This service will now run as the 19423/19424 Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Weekly Amrit Bharat Express.

India’s forex reserve jumps $9.9 billion to $716.9 billion, nearing February’s record high level
India’s foreign exchange reserves have surged by nearly USD 10 billion in a week, moving significantly closer to the record level touched earlier this year. According to the latest data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday, the country’s forex reserves rose by USD 9.905 billion to USD 716.907 billion in the week ended August 14. The latest increase comes after an even sharper rise in the preceding week. For the week ended August 7, India’s overall foreign exchange reserves had climbed by USD 14.136 billion to USD 707.002 billion. The latest data underline a strong recovery in India’s external reserves after they came under pressure earlier this year amid heightened global uncertainty and volatility in the currency market.
