Bangladesh writes to India seeking Hasina’s return after death penalty, cites extradition treaty

Bangladesh’s Ministry of External Affairs has formally requested India to extradite ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was recently handed a death sentence by a Dhaka court. Maharashtra local body polls: Don’t cross 50 pc reservation limit, SC directs state govt

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Maharashtra government to not exceed the 50 per cent reservation cap in the upcoming local body elections. A two-judge bench that included Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi also said that the local body elections can be held as per the condition prevailing pre-2022 JK Banthia commission report, which recommended 27 per cent quota for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

India’s exports fall nearly 12% in October, trade deficit widens to USD 41.68 billion

India’s exports contracted 11.8 per cent to USD 34.38 billion in October, showed government data released on Monday. Imports jumped 16.63 per cent to USD 76.06 billion. The country’s trade deficit stood at USD 41.68 billion during the reporting month. Imports surged due to increased shipments of gold and silver.
