Russia wants a railway route to India amid the ongoing uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz and Bosphorus, its Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said. The link, if materialised, can open direct access to and fro Russia and India through a railway network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated Indian athletes after their successful campaign at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The Indian contingent bagged 85 medals in total, which includes 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze medals. Now, even though the tally dipped from the historic 106-medal haul in Hangzhou three years prior, the 2026 haul was historic as well as it was India’s second-most successful continental run.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday that Prayagraj’s Kasari-Masari area will now be developed as Krishnapuri. Taking a strong swipe at slain gangster Atiq Ahmed and his criminal legacy, the Chief Minister said the area would no longer be associated with a mafia’s identity and would instead emerge as a symbol of development. “Kasari-Masari will no longer be known by that name. We will develop it as Krishnapuri,” CM Yogi said. He added that the announcement was part of the development process underway in the region.
