Chaitanya Baghel, son of former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, sent to 14-day judicial custody by court. Enforcement Directorate Lawyer Saurabh Pandey says, “In the ongoing liquor scam, we found some role of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, and he was arrested…His five-day police remand was completed today, and we sought 14-day judicial custody from the court, which has been granted. The next date of hearing is September 6…He is not cooperating in the investigation…”

    The Punjab Police has arrested prime accused in Punjab anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota’s murder from Salasar, Rajasthan. Jhota was earlier shot on Tuesday, October 13 during a confrontation at a medical store in Mansa, Punjab, while livestreaming what he alleged was the sale of ‘chitta’, or heroin. He later succumbed to his injuries at Mansa Civil Hospital. The incident has triggered a political storm, with opposition leaders accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of failing to tackle the drug menace and maintain law and order.

    Two inter-state drug peddlers have been arrested with 317 kg of ganja, valued at an estimated Rs 3.17 crore in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru Police has arrested two arrested drug peddlers who are from Kerala and a case was registered under NDPS act.
