Bihar Elections 2025: INDIA Alliance ‘friendly fights’ on 12 seats, key nominations withdrawn

With the last date for withdrawal of nominations over for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, all candidates’ names are now finalized. In a notable development, the INDIA Alliance’s parties are contesting against each other on 12 seats, creating so-called “friendly fights.” Initially, a total of 15 seats had candidates from India Alliance parties running against each other. Speculation had suggested that the seat-sharing details might be revealed during a Mahagathbandhan press conference on Thursday, but no announcement was made.

Bharat Taxi: India’s first co-operative taxi service to challenge Ola and Uber, check details

To challenge the dominance of corporate ride-haling companies like Ola and Uber, the government has joined hands with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited to develop Bharat Taxi – the country’s first fixed national cooperative ride-hailing platform. The cooperative taxi service will be launched in December. Ahead of that, the platform is launching its pilot project in Delhi in November with 650 drivers. It will then expand to other states next month.

Defence ministry approves Rs 79,000 crore procurement to boost Army, Navy and Air Force

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved major procurement proposals worth around Rs 79,000 crore to strengthen the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces. The meeting was held at the South Block in New Delhi on Thursday. For the Indian Army, the DAC accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the procurement of the Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS), Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) and High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Crane. The NAMIS (Tracked) system will enhance the Army’s ability to destroy enemy combat vehicles, bunkers and other fortified positions. The GBMES will provide continuous electronic intelligence on enemy emitters, while the induction of HMVs will significantly strengthen logistics operations across diverse terrains.
