Centre to summon Meta officials over child abuse ads on Instagram in India

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has directed officials at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to summon Meta officials over Instagram advertisements promoting child sexual abuse in India, seeking an explanation from the social media giant over the issue, said sources on Friday.

    At least 19 people, including several women, lost their lives after a stampede at a Durga Puja pandal in north Kolkata’s Chorbagan, said West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday, adding the incident also left 25 others wounded.
