Shri Gundicha Temple in Odisha’s Puri was reopened for the general public on Monday after remaining closed for around six years. The temple, which had been shut to devotees since 2020 following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, is regarded as a highly sacred place associated with Lord Jagannath and is revered as his birthplace, or “Janmavedi”. The reopening brought a wave of happiness among devotees and servitors, many of whom had been waiting for the temple to open again.
