The Supreme Court administration has written to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, requesting immediate steps to vacate Bungalow number 5, Krishna Menon Marg- currently occupied by former Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud. The letter, dated July 1 (Tuesday), highlights that both the standard post-retirement retention period and the extended permission granted to the former CJI have now expired.
More than 600 people have died in the devastating floods in Nepal, while around 2,500 people are still missing. Among those missing are 537 foreign nationals, including 320 Indians. Rescue and recovery operations continue across the flood-hit areas as authorities also remain alert to the possibility of further danger.

Maratha reservation movement leader Manoj Jarange Patil on Saturday once again given a big ultimatum to the government and said that if the demands of the Maratha community are not resolved by September 12, the Maratha community will march towards Mumbai. Jarange Patil said the government was trying to reduce the limits and scope of the agitation, but “however the Marathas are not hiding and will show up.”
