Air Chief Marshal AP Singh brought his Indian Air Force flying journey full circle on Tuesday, completing his final sortie in uniform aboard the HJT-16 Kiran Mk-1 trainer aircraft that marked the beginning of his career as a pilot. The 55-minute flight was made especially memorable by the presence of Wing Commander VS Kochar (Retd), the instructor who first taught Singh to fly. The two took to the skies together in Kiran aircraft U 707, turning the Chief of the Air Staff’s final sortie into a deeply personal reunion. For Singh, the flight was more than a farewell to flying in uniform. It was an opportunity to return to the aircraft and instructor who shaped his earliest days in the Indian Air Force, completing a journey that began more than four decades ago.
