The body of renowned Nirmal Purja was found on Sunday, three days after he and his team were swept away in a horror avalanche on Broad Peak, the mountain located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s Gilgit-Baltistan. Purja’s body was found at an altitude of around 5,700 metres, the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated Indian athletes after their successful campaign at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The Indian contingent bagged 85 medals in total, which includes 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze medals. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday that Prayagraj’s Kasari-Masari area will now be developed as Krishnapuri. Taking a strong swipe at slain gangster Atiq Ahmed and his criminal legacy, the Chief Minister said the area would no longer be associated with a mafia’s identity and would instead emerge as a symbol of development. “Kasari-Masari will no longer be known by that name. We will develop it as Krishnapuri,” CM Yogi said. He added that the announcement was part of the development process underway in the region.
