School holidays were declared for educational institutions in Wayanad and Kasaragod districts on June 6 amid heavy rains in the state. Several properties and vehicles were damaged as heavy rains strong winds continued to lash several parts of Kerala on Friday. The IMD issued an orange alert in eight districts of the state for the day.

Maharashtra approves loan waiver, to benefit 56 lakh farmers – What are the conditions for loan waiver?
The Maharashtra government has provided relief to farmers by approving the waiver of agricultural loans up to Rs 2 lakh. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana.’ The state government will spend approximately Rs 36,585 crore on this scheme, and approximately 5.6 million farmers are expected to benefit. The government says that more than 6.5 million loan accounts will be covered under this scheme. In addition, special incentives will be provided to farmers who repay their loans on time.

NIA arrests two accused in Malda pre-poll SIR-related violence cases
Continuing with its investigation into the dozen cases registered in connection with the Malda pre-poll SIR-related mob blockades, violence, and detention of judicial officers, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two more accused persons in two separate cases.
