Delhi hotel fire tragedy: LG orders month-long fire safety audit across city, defaulters face closure

Hours after a devastating fire at a hotel in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar claimed at least 21 lives, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu ordered an extensive month-long campaign to enforce fire safety regulations across the capital. The large-scale exercise will begin on June 4, and will focus on hotels, lodges, inns, nursing homes, coaching institutes, restaurants and other commercial establishments considered vulnerable to fire-related incidents.

Kuwait airspace shutdown disrupts flights: Air India Express services hit, Kochi-Bahrain flight cancelled

Air travel between India and the Gulf region faced disruptions on Wednesday after Kuwait closed its airspace following an attack on Kuwait International Airport. An Air India Express flight operating from Kozhikode to Kuwait was forced to turn back and return to its point of origin after remaining airborne for more than two hours. The airline confirmed the development in an official statement, saying, “As a result of the closure of Kuwait airspace, our Kuwait-bound flight on 3 June returned to Kozhikode.” Flight IX393, operated using a Boeing 737 aircraft, was diverted back to Kerala after the sudden restrictions on Kuwait’s airspace came into effect.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) re-evaluation portal has accepted over 43,000 applications, as of 12 noon today. CBSE in a post on X said, “the portal  has accepted  4924 applications for verification and 39056 applications for re-evaluation (total of 43980) as of 12 noon today.” The candidates can apply for CBSE re-evaluation on the official website – cbse.gov.in/newsite_old/rchk.html.
